The North Atlanta Jewish Students' Technology Fair has a simple history.
It all started because Anthony Shields wanted to take some of the
tech-savvy Epstein students to the Technology Fair in which most public
schools participate. Problem: It was held on Saturday, the designated
holy day of the Jewish culture, the Sabbath. The solution: Mr. Shields
decided it was important that the Jewish students in the Atlanta Area be
given a venue to compete and demonstrate their high-tech capabilities,
and thus organized the 1st Annual North Atlanta Technology Fair.
The fair has rotated among host schools since then being hosted at
The Epstein School, Greenfield Hebrew Academy and The Weber School.
Schools participating included The Epstein School, Yeshiva high
school, Greenfield Hebrew Academy and Ohr Yisroel and The Weber School.
In 2007, Anthony was selected to co-chair the state technology fair.
Regional responsibilities were turned over to Leora Wollner of The
Epstein School and Sue Loubser of Greenfield Hebrew Academy.
In 2009, the Davis Academy were welcomed to the region as they had
their first entries in the fair.
The students appreciate the opportunity to showcase their work and
our region continues to do exceptionally well at the State Fair.
